The Mermaid of Moher
There is an old legend about a mermaid of Moher that goes like this: a local was fishing near the cliffs and spotted a mermaid. He had a conversation with the mermaid and while they were talking, the fisherman saw a magic cloak close to a rock by them. In order to go back to sea, she had to wear this cloak. Seeing that he could trap the mermaid, the fisherman stole the cloak and ran home.
At his house, the fisherman hid the magic cloak. The mermaid followed the fisherman to his house to retrieve her cloak but couldn’t find it because it was cleverly hidden. The mermaid agreed to marry the fisherman and they had two children. But, long after while the mermaid’s husband was fishing, she found the magic cloak. When the fisherman arrived back at home, the mermaid had departed and returned to the sea. After this, the fisherman and the kids never saw the mermaid again.

The corpse eating eel...
Another legend of the Cliffs of Moher is about an Irish Saint named Macreehy. The legend is that there was a giant eel in the area that would go into the cemetery behind Macreehy's church and it would eat the dead of the cemetery. Macreehy would not stand for this and killed the giant eel. There are two rocks that can only be seen at low tide that represent Macreehy’s bed. There was a carving of the eel at the church but it faded over time. - EBW.
