Mothar
Mothar is a Gaelic word that means “ruined fort”. The Cliffs of Moher gets its name from this word because it is located in an area where an ancient fort stood about 2000 years ago. The Cliffs themselves are a long stretch of rocky formations along the sea. They are one of the most popular locations in Ireland and include places such as Hag's Head and the Cliff of the Foals. This area has several myths and legends associated with it. - EBW
