The upper carboniferous period
The Cliffs of Moher have interesting landforms. These landforms were formed during a period known as the Upper Carboniferous Period. Due to Sea level changes , deep water sediments, coal measures, sandstones and shales are located above shallow waters. These rocks can be seen on the cliffs of Moher in County Clare. County Clare is one of the best places to see the carboniferous limestones. The reasons why is because the limestones are exposed at the surface and have not been disturbed by earth movements and the surfaces can be traced for miles and miles.
